Alim be-Zaman
ʿĀlim be-Zamān
Bi-weekly scholarly sessions building an informed Islamic perspective on the socio-political issues facing Indian Muslims.

The ʿĀlim be-Zamān bi-weekly scholarly sessions provide an academic platform for deep discussion of pressing socio-political issues in India, particularly those affecting the Muslim community. These sessions aim to equip hawza scholars and intellectuals with a well-informed Islamic perspective on such issues. With over 30 successful sessions held so far, now in its fourth year, the programme fosters political awareness (basirah) and strategic thinking.
Critical analysis of social, political and legal issues
The sessions focus on key developments and policies affecting the Muslim community, including:
- Socio-political events related to Muslims — examining recent events and their effects.
- The Indian judiciary — understanding legal structures and their implications.
- New laws related to Muslims — examining recent legislation and its effects.
- Demographic studies and social trends — analysing India's population changes and their socio-political impact.
A growing platform for thought leadership
With over 30 scholarly sessions conducted, this initiative serves as a knowledge hub for hawza students, scholars and would-be policymakers seeking in-depth analysis of contemporary challenges.
A bridge between academia and society
